FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of liquefying a hydrocarbon-rich stream, mainly a stream of natural gas, is achieved through heat exchange with mixtures of coolants in a cascade of three cooling cycles, the first of which is meant for preliminary cooling of the hydrocarbon-rich stream, and the second - for liquefaction, and the third - for supercooling the liquefied hydrocarbon-rich stream and in which the mixture of coolants is subjected to single- or multi-stage compression. Compressors (V2, V3, V3', V4) are combined or grouped into two compressor units and are powered by two drives (GT1, GT2), whose power differs by not more than 5%.
EFFECT: reduced capital and operational costs.
