FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device can be used in agriculture in postharvest treatment of grain mass. The capacitance sensor for moisture of granular materials has a housing, in which a probe electrode is rigidly fixed. The length of the electrode, which consists of two telescopically connected two shells with large diametre, is varied by an actuating mechanism, placed in inside the electrode when calibrating the sensor. The bottom shell is attached to the housing by dielectric pipes. The top shell is closed by a dielectric cone. The top shell is prevented from rotating about the bottom shell by a guide post, which is rigidly attached to the top shell. A flap door with an actuating mechanism is mounted in the grooves in the bottom part of the housing. The moisture sensor can be used for measuring moisture of materials with different density without damaging the material.

EFFECT: possibility of varying surface area of the measuring electrode for optimum sensitivity of the chamber to changes in moisture of materials with different content of impurities, providing for automatic loading, unloading the moisture sensor, while considerably reducing error of measuring moisture and simplifying operation of the sensor, which increases efficiency.
