SUBSTANCE: method of reducing Desulfovibrio and/or Helicobacter spp. count in gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of a domestic animal involves oral introduction to said animal of a fibre chosen from the group consisting of oligosaccharide, galactan, beta-glucan and mixtures thereof that reduces Desulfovibrio and-or Helicobacter spp. count. The method of treating GIT inflammation in the domestic animal with increased Desulfovibrio level in GIT involves oral introduction of effective amount of the fibre reducing Desulfovibrio count in GIT. Said fibre is chosen from the group consisting of oligosaccharide, galactan, beta-glucan and mixtures thereof. The method of reducing smell chosen from the group, consisting of smell of intestinal gas, smell of excrements and any mixture thereof in the domestic animal with increased Desulfovibrio level involves oral introduction of effective amount of the fibre reducing Desulfovibrio count in GIT, and the fibre is chosen from the group consisting of oligosaccharide, galactan, beta-glucan and mixtures thereof.
EFFECT: improved state of gastrointestinal tract in domestic animals.
