Feed composition for domestic animals with controlled release contains matrix, which includes a component, which is a cellulose, containing a high solubility fiber source and a low solubility fiber source, specifically comprising a combination of a pecan nut, flax seeds, citrus pulp, beet pulp, cranberry cake, and polyphenol source containing cranberry cake, pomegranate extract and green tea extract. Mammal is a dog or cat. Weight ratio of the source of fiber with high solubility to a fiber source with low solubility ranges from approximately 1:20 to approximately 1:2. Method for preventing or relieving a symptom of an inflammatory disease, condition or disorder of a mammal involves administering an effective amount of the above composition to a mammal in need thereof. Method of producing a fodder composition for domestic animals comprises extruding a matrix comprising said components and applying a surface coating on the granule, wherein the surface coating includes a palatant.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a controlled-release composition, providing delivery of a polyphenol source into the lower gastrointestinal tract (GI) of a mammal after consumption by a mammal.
