FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering industry, and in particular, to improvement of high and low pressure gas tubes. The gas tube includes burner and/or bulb made from optically transparent material. The bulb is coated with luminiferous or diffusing coating and filled with inert gas and filling composition emitting in optical area of emission spectrum. Electrodes are leak-tightly connected to the bulb. According to the invention, the technical result is achieved due to solid hydrogen absorber used in diffusing coating. It absorbs hydrogen within the range from normal conditions temperature to a temperature of gas tube operation in normal mode. Metal titanium powder can be used as the above-mentioned solid absorber. Also titanium nickelide powder can be used as the above-mentioned solid absorber, namely LaNi5. In addition, titanium-ferrite nickelide powder can be used as the above-mentioned solid absorber, namely, TiFeNi. The solid hydrogen absorber may be from 0.01 to 0.1 wt % of luminophor and light diffusing coating.
EFFECT: extended life time due to reduced voltage at tube switching.
