FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to thoracic surgery and can be used in operations aimed at reduction of lung volume in case of emphysema. Essence of method lies in lung resection. For this purpose lateral thoracotomy is performed in 6 intercostal space, lower part of lung is delivered into wound. On basal pyramid line of resection is plotted in form of "horseshoe" whose form cupula of diaphragm takes. Volume of resected lung tissue must constitute 30% of whole lung.
EFFECT: application of claimed invention allows to perform anatomically and physiologically justified operation in case of homogenic emphysema, increase indices of respiratory function, restore gas composition of blood and acid-alkali balance, reduce rate of cor pulmonale and eliminate lung hypertension.
