SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer application programming interfaces (API) for licensing software. A license determines the right to use software. The software calls the API "use right" method in order to apply the right. If the right exists, the service attaches the right to the license in which that right was found. The software supports enforcement of license conditions, granting or refusing access to certain or all functionalities, depending on whether a valid copy of the right was found. The right can be associated with any data. API includes a method for extracting data from the right which was previously attached in the "use right" method.
