FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of carbon sorbents. Described are highly efficient sorbents based on activated carbon in form of its discrete grains, preferably with spherical shape, with high microporosity and characterised by the following parametres: total pure volume, determined using Gurwitsch method, of at least 0.7 cm3/g. Micropores with diametre of not more than 20 Å make up at least 70% of the total pore volume. Average diametre of pores assumes maximum value of 30 Å and BET surface area (specific surface area determined using nitrogen absorption Brunauer, Emmett and Teller technique) is at least 1500 m2/g.
EFFECT: proposed adsorbents are primarily suitable for adsorption of poisonous substances, hazardous substances and odours, mainly from gaseous and air streams, for purifying and preparing gases, mainly air, for use in medicine and for use as gas sorbents-accumulators, preferably hydrogen.
