FIELD: moulding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a molded nanostructured microporous carbon sorbent and a method for production thereof. Sorbent can be used in processes of adsorptive purification, separation, extraction and concentration of various natural gas media. Method comprises mixing powdered carbon sorbent with aqueous solution of polymer binder, in form of polyvinyl alcohol, and pressing at increasing load and temperature in four steps in ranges from 25 kgf/cm2 to 1600 kgf/cm2, from 75 to 190 °C and from 10–130 minutes, respectively. Resultant sorbent has a micropore volume equal to sample volume 0.5–0.66 cm3/cm3.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a sorbent with a developed system of micropores, high mechanical strength, improved sorption characteristics, with density exceeding apparent density of initial powdered sorbent by at least 2–5 times.
