SUBSTANCE: method of assessing spinning capacity of bast fibre involves preparation of a sample and testing it by combing. When testing, a multiple double-sided web of the fibre sample is used, tied in cantilever fashion at the end of a pendulum and interacting with a comb. Spinning capacity is assessed from the number of swings of the pendulum until it completely stops. Use of the proposed method simplifies analysis, increases accuracy and information content of obtained results.
EFFECT: realisation of this method does not require considerable expenses and it is therefore possible in practical conditions.
