SUBSTANCE: invention relates to apparatus for processing banknotes. Described is a machine system for processing banknotes, a machine for processing banknotes and a method of operating the said machine, use of which enables data exchange between machines for processing banknotes and a centralised service device. System log files or statistical data on errors or deviations arising when using the machine for processing banknotes are sent to the centralised service device. These system log files or statistical data are processed by the centralised service device, and repair of the machine for processing banknotes or replacement of its worn out parts is initialised before the machine breaks down.
