FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves double measurement of volume of a gaseous cavity of a container. Before measuring this volume, the gaseous cavity is evacuated to pressure not above 1 mmHg. Gas is then released into the cavity until attaining atmospheric pressure and volume (V1) of the gas is measured. Pressure in the gaseous cavity is then increased to a value equal to twice atmospheric pressure. Gas is then released from the cavity until attaining atmospheric pressure and volume (V2) of the released gas is measured. Volume of undissolved gas in the liquid cavity is determined using the formula: Vg = V2-V1.

EFFECT: possibility of determining volume of undissolved gas in liquid cavity of a container without depressurisation of that cavity and connecting refilling apparatus to the cavity.
