FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention involves selection of at least one proposed emulsifying agent containing at least 5 wt % of cation nitrogen-containing compound selected from a group consisting of compounds with a carbon atom bonded with a nitrogen atom through a double bond, and a combination of compounds with a carbon atom bonded to a nitrogen atom through a double bond, and compounds with a carbonyl carbon atom bonded to a nitrogen atom, per total mass of the said proposed emulsifying agent; (b) reaction of the said proposed emulsifying agent with carboxylic acid to form at least one carboxylic acid salt; (c) mixing bitumen with the said proposed carboxylic acid salt to form at least one proposed bitumen emulsion; (d) depositing the said proposed bitumen emulsion on a surface; (e) measurement of coalescence of the said proposed bitumen emulsion and; (f) selection of the bitumen emulsion for paving the surface after the coalescence measurement step and selection of the said bitumen emulsion, based on the said coalescence measurements of the said proposed bitumen emulsion.

EFFECT: bitumen emulsion with improved operational properties due to determination of its acceptable coalescence properties.
