FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the family of the latest cathode materials and to a unique synthesis method thereof for Li-ion batteries. According to the invention, the method involves a) formation of an oxide of crystalline lithium transition metal (with a spinel structure or layered structure) b) formation of an intermediate synthetic material containing initial chemical elements Li:Fe:P:C in molar ratio 1:1:1:2, c) bonding and grinding said materials to form a mixture of materials in form of particles, and a) heating material obtained at step c) to form cathode material from phosphate with defective crystalline lithium transition metal. Heating is carried out in a vessel in the presence of air, and surfaces of the material facing the air are covered by a layer of an inert shell which has pores for penetration of air and exhaust gases arising from heating.
EFFECT: formation of a family of phosphates with defective lithium transition metal, which can be easily synthesised in atmospheric air at low temperature, with compatibility, efficiency and repeatability at the same time.
