FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: in a communication system in which a moving unit for which there is need to provide access to a network among different networks having different network interface layer protocols, there is a handover circuit through which the unit can freely move from one network to another with the least network access interruption level. Before and at the beginning of handover, the unit receives an instruction for handover. This instruction can be embodied in various forms such as a signalling message denoting change in SID (system identification), NID (network identification) or PZID (packet zone identification). As an alternative, the instruction can be in form of information directly included in the data packet transmitted to the moving unit before transmission of the unit. Alternatively, the instruction can be embodied as distinct message structures transmitted to the unit, in which different message structures can be transmitted by different networks supporting different network interface layer protocols.
EFFECT: more reliable handover.
