FIELD: nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental nuclear physics, particularly to devices for investigating neutron decay, including measurement of the decay constant and correlation of flight of decay products. The proposed device uses a neutron polariser sequence - a unit for output of electrons from the neutron decay region and their detection - polarisation analyser. The output unit is characterised by use of a dipole magnet which has two longitudinal bunches of windings with bent front parts and a vacuum chamber placed inside the windings with butt-end flanges for connecting to a neutron guide. Detecting elements are placed inside the chamber on both sides of the beam in gaps of the magnetic conductor encircling the winding on the bottom and the top. The device provides simultaneous measurement of decay constants and correlation of the flight of decay electrons relative neutron spin. The device can work with low-power neutron sources.
EFFECT: invention widens functional capabilities and increases accuracy of the result due to control measurements.
