SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear physics. The method of measuring asymmetry of decay of polarised beams includes passing a polarised beam of particles through a controlled area, detecting charged particles emitted asymmetrically relative to the spin of decaying particles, controlled measurements while changing the direction of polarisation of the beam by 180°, wherein the initial polarised beam of particles is passed through the control area with a magnetic field close to zero, the particle flux of the initial polarised beam is varied in steps using a high-precision controlled diaphragm, each step of the flux includes multiple measurements of the count rate and energy spectrum of the charged particles emitted in the control area using an enveloping beam of an angle-sectioned detector; from the set of count rates and errors thereof, constructing an error composite function for estimates of the number of particles in the visibility range of the detector through approximations of said numbers with a scale (series) with spacing of 1/µ, the value µ is selected up to the best match of minima of error composite functions for life time τ+ and τ- of two decay spin modes and the arithmetic average thereof, wherein processing is carried out independently for two sets of data, distinguished by flux values, and the solution for µ and τ is determined by the intersection of said composite functions of said sets near the minima close to 1, wherein the spin correlation coefficient (asymmetry of decay) is determined using the formula where is the average helicity of particles emitted during decay, determined from the measured spectrum of particles or from table data.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring asymmetry of decay of neutrons.
