FIELD: experimental nuclear physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method that can be used to enhance precision of evaluating free neutron parameters such as coefficient of asymmetry of charged particle escape from free neutron and neutron lifetime includes introduction of neutron beams in evacuated region of forward-current magnetic field produced by set of conductors incorporating central conductor and a number of side conductors; mentioned beam is passes perpendicular to mentioned conductors through variable-aperture diaphragm affording fixed stepwise variation of neutron quantity in beam, then rate of count of charged-particle neutrons formed in the course of decay is recorded by means of pair of radial detectors installed on other side of forward-current central conductor relative to neutron beam being introduced and pair of horizontal detectors disposed above and below neutron beam being introduced; rate-of-count measurement results are used for evaluating asymmetry of escape of these charged particles and neutron decay constant.
EFFECT: enhanced functional capabilities of method due to additional lifetime measurement of neutrons including so-called cold and thermal ones.
