OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINES Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC F02B75/28 F01B7/02 F01B7/10

Abstract RU 2383752 C1

FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two-stroke opposed-piston uniflow scavenging engines. Proposed engine comprises cylinder (1) with work chamber (8), near (4) and far (6) pistons, and three crank gears with crankshaft (3). The latter has three cranks (13, 14, 15) fitted through 180°. Extreme cranks (13, 15) interact with near piston (4), center crank (14) interacts with far piston (6). Extreme connecting links (18, 19) of said crank gears are arranged in near piston (4,6). Extreme connecting links (18, 19) interact, via blocks (16, 17), with extreme cranks (13,15). Center connecting link (23) is arranged in frame slide (24) sliding on over piston surface. Said frame slide is coupled with far piston (6) by con rod (25) that passes through central bore (27) of near piston (4). Con rod (25) interacts, via block (22), with central crank (14). Piston supercharger (33) with intake (35) and supercharger (39) channels is arranged between far piston (6) and cylinder bottom (31). Proposed engine can additionally incorporate a similar cylinder (2) with near (5) and far (7) pistons coupled with cranks (13, 14, 15) of crankshaft (3), said pistons being aligned on opposite side of crankshaft. Work chamber (8) has two tows of scavenging openings (11, 12) controlled by far piston (6). Openings (12) arranged nearby crankshaft (3) are coupled with air turbo supercharger (47). Openings (11) arranged further from crankshaft (3) communicates with adjacent piston supercharger (33). Opening of supercharger channel (37) with check valve (39) adjoins cylinder bottom (31). Opening of intake channel (35) adjoins the face of far piston (6) at maximum height of supercharger chamber (52). Spark plug electrodes are arranged inside plug chambers (57). Free turns of supercharger chamber thread are coated with catalytic layer.

EFFECT: reduced load on crankshaft main bearings, reliable combustion of fuel mixes, improved lubrication and cooling.
