FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston engines. SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine has two operating cylinders arranged at equal distance from suction cylinder. All cylinders are two-cycle ones. Phase shift of operating cylinders is 180 degrees. Operating pistons set crankshaft into rotation. Suction piston and suction crankshaft are set into motion at double cyclic speed of operating pistons and crankshaft through gear train between corresponding crankshafts. Air sucked into suction cylinder through intake ports is compressed and directed, in turn, into operating cylinders along bypass channels with valve control. All valves, holes and gas channels are in cylinder head. Timing of injection and ignition of fuel is provided. Engine can be furnished with one or several power modules. Description of V-type turbocharged diesel with two modules is provided. EFFECT: increased efficiency and power per unit weight. 19 cl, 7 dwg
