FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fluoro-substituted caesium dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborates of the formula: Cs2B12H12-mFm 2-, where m=2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, which can be used as starting materials during production of multi-functional composite materials and as solid electrolytes. A compound containing B12H12 2- anion is fluorinated with a fluorine-containing reagent while heating with subsequent dissolving of the fluorination product in water and extracting the desired product from the aqueous solution through precipitation with caesium hydroxide. The starting compound used can be potassium dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborate. The fluorine-containing reagent used is potassium hydrodifluoride KF·HF, taken in molar ratio to B12H12 2- anion equal to 1.1 m:1, where m=2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10. Fluorination is carried out at temperature ranging from 20°C to 400°C.
EFFECT: invention simplifies production of fluoro-substituted caesium dodecahydro-closo-dodecaborates, avoids the need to use sophisticated apparatus and increases safety as well.
