FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to instrumentation and can be used for control of fatigue damage to steel structures, the limit state of which is fatigue or completion of crack formation during continuous operation. According to invention, diagnostic method of crack formation in steel structures consists in the fact that the most probable fracture points of steel structures are determined, inspection platforms are prepared at these points, surfaces of inspection platforms are checked, according to which formation of macrocracks is determined when they reach their maximum value. Special feature of the method is that in addition there inspected is profile of the surface of inspection platforms near stress concentrator perpendicular to the supposed direction of crack propagation, in which there additionally performed is measurement of arithmetic average of absolute values of deflections of profile of roughness parametre on the selected basic line, the change of which serves as measure of damage degree of the component of the inspected steel structure.
EFFECT: invention improves inspection reliability owing to possibility of observing the kinetics of fatigue damage accumulation in time.
