FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pulsed X-ray tubes with explosive emission, designed for use in small X-ray devices for detecting defects in metal structures, as well as detecting high-speed processes with development time of the order of 10-9 -10-8 s. The pulsed X-ray tube has a metal casing in form of a cylindrical cup, a window joined to the casing for outlet of X-rays made from a metal with gas absorbing properties, a target placed in the casing at a distance from the window, and an insulating element with a cathode. The casing of the tube is made from a metal with high thermal conductivity, for example copper. The target is placed on the inner surface of the bottom of the cylindrical cup and the window is made in form of a spherical segment or a hemisphere whose edges encircle the bottom of the cylindrical cup.
EFFECT: high durability with good X-ray parametres.
