SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication engineering and can be used for transmitting several data streams in communication systems. A single coding speed and various modulation schemes are used to transmit several data streams to one receiver. For several data streams, channel evaluations are carried out, which are used to select a single coding speed and several modulation schemes for several data streams. The system can support a set of coding speeds, and each coding speed can be associated with the corresponding set of modulation schemes which can be used with that coding speed. A single coding speed for all data streams is selected from the set of supported coding speeds, and for each data stream, a modulation scheme is selected from the set of modulation schemes associated with this single coding speed. Several data streams are coded in accordance with the single coding speed. Further, each data stream is modulated in accordance with the modulation scheme selected for that stream.

EFFECT: simpler selection of speed and/or cutting on the amount of transmitted information on speed and improvement of data transmission characteristics.
