SUBSTANCE: invention relates to multi-channel synthesisers. To synthesise at least three output channels using two input stereo channels, input stereo channels are analysed (15) for detecting a signal component appearing in both input channels. A signal generator (16) operates so as to bring at least part of the detected signal components into a second channel (12b) associatively related to a second loud-speaker in the assigned circuit of the loud-speaker located between the first and the third loud-speaker in the circuit of loud-speakers. However, if transmission of all detected signal components can lead to an amplitude limitation situation, only part of the detected signal components are entered into the second channel as a real centre channel and the remainder is entered into the second and third channels as a phantom centre channel.

EFFECT: improved multichannel synthesis compensation using two input channels.
