FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention aims at purifying gases of sulfur-containing compounds, carbon dioxide and water, as well as at preventing hydration in extraction and transport of natural sulfur dioxide gases. Proposed method is based on contact between gases and cooled methanol and subsequent recovery of methanol. Note here that a portion of purified gas is subjected to direct oxidation by oxygen-containing gas, oxidized gases are cooled to extract fluid raw methanol with water content of up to 9% to use it as absorbent for recovery of saturated absorbent solution. Purification is performed at absorbent temperature of (-65÷+15)°C and pressure of 0.5 to 10 MPa, while recovery of saturated absorbent solution is made at (-10÷+20)°C and (0.1÷) MPa. Proposed process allows controlled entrainment of methanol vapors by purified gas approximating to (0.1 to 0,5)% of purified gas volume. Carbon sulphide extracted during desorption is processed into free sulfur by Claus's method.
EFFECT: simplified process.
