FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: quartz concentrate - quartz grit in a fraction of 100-300 micrometres made from natural quartz and having undergone all stages of mechanical and chemical processing is calcined for 0.5-1.0 h at temperature 1370-1450°C in a helium and hydrogen mixture. The mixture can contain 20-40% hydrogen and 60-80% helium.
EFFECT: purification of the quartz grit enables obtaining transparent quartz glass with when molten, which virtually contains no bubbles.
