FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used when preparing an aluminium oxide dispersion. The dispersion is stable at pH ranging from 5 to 9, contains at least 40 wt % aluminium oxide, is prepared by dispersing aluminium oxide powder with specific surface area ranging from 5 to 200 m2/g in an aqueous phase, where one or more at least dibasic hydroxy carboxylic acids are contained in dissolved state in the dispersion. At least one salt of a dibasic phosphate of an alkali metal and/or monobasic phosphate of an alkali metal is independently added to this aqueous phase in amount ranging from 0.3 to 3×10-6 mol/m2 of the specific surface area of aluminium oxide. To prepare the dispersion, water is first mixed with one or more at least dibasic hydroxy carboxylic acids contained in dissolved state in the dispersion and at least one salt of a dibasic phosphate of an alkali metal and/or monobasic phosphate of an alkali metal in amount ranging from 0.3 to 3×10-6 mol/m2 of the specific surface area. Aluminium oxide powder corresponding to the target amount in the dispersion is added all at once or continuously and dispersed through input of over 1000 kJ/m3 energy.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a stable dispersion which can be used to deposit a coating onto glass, ceramic and metal surfaces, as well as for making lacquer.
