FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, specifically to a nanocomposite polymer separator with improved safety characteristics and a method for manufacturing thereof, which can be used in lithium-ion storage batteries. Technical result is achieved due to the fact that the lithium-ion battery separator manufacturing method includes the following stages: 1) compounding the polymer and the hydrophobic filler during dry mixing, 2) extruding the compounded mixture, wherein a cast film is obtained and 3) stretching the cast film to produce a porous membrane, wherein the hydrophobic filler is a nanostructured metal oxide which is selected from aluminium oxide, ZrO2, MgO and ZnO and mixtures thereof, obtained after hydrophobic surface treatment, and where the amount of hydrophobic filler is in range from 5 wt.% to 40 wt.% based on the total weight of the polymer and filler.
EFFECT: high thermal stability, mechanical strength and stability of dimensions of the separator, which meets safety requirements, is the technical result.
