FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of analysing grain-size composition of solid particles suspended in a liquid through settling, where particles of each size settle at a unique place. Particles are settled on a settling surface through effects of factors which move the said particles along the settling surface and factors which move the said particles to the settling surface. Particle sizes are measured through microphotography. The residue is also divided into the desired number of fractions. The mass of each fraction is determined by directly weighing the entire fraction.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measuring the mass of each fraction of suspended particles and determination of accurate sizes of particles and their shape.
