FIELD: fire safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire-fighting equipment and can be used in assessment of fire-fighting capacity of powdered compounds used in fire extinguishers. Method of determining distribution of fire-extinguishing powder in a cross-section of a non-stationary gas stream consists in constructing distribution fields of different fractions and aggregate weight of powder in the predicted region of fire, wherein the granulometric composition of the fire-extinguishing powder at control points of the cross-section of the non-stationary gas stream is determined by sampling the powder directly from the gas stream using a coordinate table vertically oriented relative to the axis of the gas flow, equipped with powder collectors, and subsequent sieve analysis of collected samples.
EFFECT: possibility of analyzing distribution of particles of powdered compositions during simulation of supply of fire extinguishing substance from a fire extinguisher.
