METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SCALING THICKNESS DETERMINATION Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G01B7/06

Abstract RU 2387950 C2

FIELD: measurement technique.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to heat-power engineering and may be used to determine scaling thickness in equipment of chemical, petrochemical enterprises and thermal, geothermal, nuclear power plants. Method for scaling thickness determination includes comparison of signal having passed through liquid solution and equipment wall without scaling with signal having passed through liquid solution and equipment wall with scaling. In this method characteristics of the said signal is determined as circuit resistance to direct current before scaling start which is resistance of liquid solution between sensor body and electrode rod. According to measured value of total circuit resistance scaling thickness is determined from the formula: where R - total circuit resistance, Ohm; Rp - resistance of circuit before scaling start, Ohm, p - specific resistance of deposits, Ohm·m; S - area of electrode surface protruding in liquid solution, m2; k - coefficient showing by how many times circuit resistance before start of scaling is less than resistance of liquid layer between deposits and insulation. The device for scaling thickness determination contains body, electrode, insulation and measuring unit featuring the fact that electrode protrudes in liquid for 2-4 mm from sensor insulation and the insulation is located at level of inner surface of pipeline.

EFFECT: improving accuracy of determination of thickness of deposits on equipment inner surface, expanding the area of its possible application and efficiency of its technical execution.
