FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to flour-and-cereals industry and can be used at oats processing mills. Proposed method comprises preliminary heating, steaming, drying and cooling of grain. Note here that steaming is performed by intermittent-action steamer for 5 to 7 min at steam pressure of 0.25 to 0.35 MPa. Proposed steamer comprises vertical cylindrical housing with tapered lower part and spherical cover, loading and unloading branch pipes, safety valve, steam feed-and-distribute appliance, pressure release and steam removal appliance. Appliance for steam feed and distribution represents vertical hollow tube with open bottom end. Tube length to housing bottom makes 0.4 to 0.6 diametre of unloading branch pipe outlet. Tube is furnished with additional steam distributing tubes with open ends arranged at 120° relative to each other and at 25-30° to hollow vertical tube axis. Said tubes are fitted with a clearance to housing side surface. Vertical hollow tube and additional steam distributing tubes have holes equally spaced apart. Note that holes on vertical tube are located on four sides with respect to tube axis at 90° relative to each other. While holes on additional tubes are located at 90° in three planes relative to their central axis. Note here that diameters ratio of both tubes makes 1.6:1.0. Pressure release and steam removal appliance represents spring valve arranged on steamer cover.
