SUBSTANCE: grain is preliminary heated, steamed, and dried in a vertical steamer of continuous action and cooled. The grain is moisturised, constantly stirred and treated with an ascending vapour flow. While stirring the grain is brought in pseudo-fluidised state. The grain is moved under the influence of gravitation forces. After treatment the grain is unloaded. The process is carried out for 4-10 minutes at a pressure of 0.05-0.15 MPa. The steamer comprises a vertical cylindrical housing 1 with a loading pipe 2, fittings of discharge of exhaust steam 3 and feeding water 4 at the upper part, the pipe of grain unloading 5 in the lower part, the discharge device 11. The agitator comprises a vertical shaft 7 with several rows of blades 10 in the form of at least two plates in each row. The shaft is mounted in the supports 8 along the axis of the housing and is connected to the drive 9. Several rows of reflector plates 6 are secured radially on the inside surface of the housing with the ability of movement between their rows of blades of the agitator. The planes of the agitator blades in the direction of rotation form an angle of 30-50°, the reflector plates are fixed with reverse angle. The device for supplying and distribution of steam 12 is mounted over the unloading device.

EFFECT: reduction of the duration of the technological process and increase in the yield of finished products.
