FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: initial gap between end faces of welded rails is calculated. Hydraulic tensioning device is mounted on ends of rails to be welded together and, using hydraulic tensioning device, gap is increased by moving out the latter. Rails are welded together, hydraulic tensioning device move out force is removed during cooling of welded seam. Welded joint is mechanically processed and sleepers are tamped in welding zone.
EFFECT: higher efficiency due to welding at rail temperatures exceeding that of securing rails on rail base along with simultaneous creation of contraction strains in welding zone.
