FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device for equalising pressure on welding electrode holders and can be used in riveting devices, ultrasound welding devices and jaw-type manipulators. Proposed device comprises at least one electrode holder drive pressure cylinder unit, at least one equalising cylinder unit (100) and with piston (110) and two pressure chambers (130, 140) and proportional valve unit (300), said valve being used to feed working medium into pressure chambers (300, 400). Unit (300) comprises proportional valve (305) and device (310) to control stroke signal, depending upon position of piston (110) and/or pressure signals (130, 140). Proposed method comprises moving piston (110) into preset position, with welding device in operating position, by valve (303) in response to stroke signal. It further includes determining pressures originating in pressure chambers (130, 140), memorising appropriate pressure signals in control device (310), continuous recording pressure signals corresponding to pressure in pressure chambers (130, 140), comparing said data with memorised pressure signals and using valve (305) to control permanent force of piston (110) in operation of welding pressure cylinder unit (50).

EFFECT: equalising external effects, eg wear out, friction temperature variation or electrode burn out.
