SUBSTANCE: tobacco is intended for smoking materials. Cut tobacco is treated with metal iodate. As metal iodate, iodate of alkaline metal is used. As the latter, iodate of sodium, iodate of lithium or iodate of potassium is used. Iodate of metal is used in the form of aqueous solution. This tobacco is produced by the following method. Iodate of metal mentioned above is added to cut tobacco to decompose nitrozamins and polyphenols in cut tobacco.
EFFECT: reduced content of nitrozamins and polyphenols in tobacco.
