PROCEDURE FOR REPAIR OF FLANGE CONNECTION OF GAS PIPELINE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC F16L55/10 F16L23/02 

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to repair and elimination of leaks from flange connections of pipes transporting gas under pressure up to 1.5 MPa. Procedure for repair of a flange connection of the gas pipeline, while continuing transportation of gas, consists in the following: a nut of the flange clamp bolt is slackened to facilitate withdrawing of gas; also a band tape impregnated with adhesive is wound in a gap between the flanges. Further there is installed a screw clamp next to the slackened bolt connection, the nut is completely unscrewed, a pressure blower is screwed on a free end of the bolt, and non-solidificated sealant is pumped via a gap formed between the bolt and a bolt cartridge till gas leaking stops. Then the pressure blower is taken off and the removed nut is screwed. A cloth tape impregnated with two-composition adhesive can be used as a cloth band tape; the band is first impregnated with one component of adhesive and with its another component - directly at winding.

EFFECT: enhanced safety of flange connection repair, and increased strength and reliability of repaired section.
