FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of smoothing out non-uniformity of image brightness when generating panoramic images of medical microslides involves reception of the image of a non-uniformly illuminated watch glass of a microscope stage on a background image without a microslide from an external device; non-uniformity of brightness values of the image of the glass without the microslide are determined (the image is divided into component parts, average brightness of each part is recorded, absolute and relative difference in brightness factors among the parts); the microslide image is captured by a camera; the obtained image is divided into component parts, average brightness of each part is recorded, absolute and relative difference in brightness factors among the parts is recorded; for each part of the image of the analysed microslide, the brightness non-uniformity value obtained earlier is directly subtracted and the edge of the analysed image is thus smoothed out.

EFFECT: more efficient determination of threshold values of pixel brightness and correlation of values to given limits.
