FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and is designed to evaluate the viability of myocardial tissue. Direct 13C-MR images of 13C-pyruvate and its 13C-containing metabolites of alanine, lactate and possibly bicarbonate in a subject, who the composition containing hyperpolarised 13C-pyruvate is administered beforehead. Correlation of 13C signal of metabolite with 13C signal of any other metabolite detected is conducted for acquisition the contrast based on the difference of signals intensity of two, preferably three, most preferably four 13C metabolites.

EFFECT: method allows to identify at-risk myocardial tissue.
