FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for contact butt welding of strips at specialised butt-welding machines installed in high-efficiency pipe welding and profiling plants etc. Built-in shears have top and bottom slides. Movable bed incorporates a drive and an actual position transducer connected with command controller. Centering device with two lugs is arranged on stationary bed. Said lugs are provided with a drive representing a hydraulic motor to move them synchronously to strip axis line. Centering device lug screw shaft and nuts are coupled with aforesaid drive. Said lugs are fitted on cylindrical guides arranged in supports mounted on stationary bed to move therein.
EFFECT: optimised process procedures in setting welding conditions, accurate alignment of strip ends and expanded range of welded strips.
