SUBSTANCE: vibration-type measurement sensor (10) has at least one measurement pipe which vibrates during operation and is linked to a pipeline, an exciting device (60) for generating and maintaining mechanical oscillations of the measurement pipe, a sensor device (70) with at least one sensor on the measurement pipe for generating a measurement signal. The electronic apparatus (20) of the measurement device controls static pressure inside the housing (6, 7) of the measurement sensor and/or air-tightness of at least one measurement pipe based on an operational parametre defined during operation inside the electronic apparatus (20): excitation current or variation of excitation current with time; measured density or reduction of measured density with time, oscillation frequency of the measurement pipe or variation of this frequency with time.
EFFECT: prevention of sudden failure of the built-in measurement device owing to timely detection of failure of the measurement pipe.
