FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic prospecting system includes a transmitter for transmitting primary electromagnetic field and generating secondary magnetic field in surveyed area with a transient profile damped in the time domain. The reception system (18) includes first and second sensors (20, 22) for detecting the secondary electromagnetic field. The second sensor (22) is less sensitive (approximately 10 times) than the first sensor (20) and serves to detect the secondary electromagnetic field during a first period of time. The first sensor (20) is used to detect the secondary electromagnetic field at the end of the first period of time. Each sensor (20, 22) includes three orthogonal magnetometres.

EFFECT: increased depth of detecting conducting ore bodies.
