METHOD OF ELIMINATING PALATOPHARYNGEAL INSUFFICIENCY AFTER VELOPHARYNGOPLASTY Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B17/24 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to plastic restoring surgery and can be used in treatment of patients with congenital cleft palate, with speech disturbance caused by atresia of palatopharyngeal ring, after velopharyngoplasty, narrowing of lumen of oro-pharyngeal communuication resulting in ENT organs complications. Essence of method lies in cutting out of two mucous-muscular flaps on low pedicles. Vertical semilunar cuts of medial walls of nasopharynx are made. Mucous-muscular flaps are separated and turned back, wounds are sewn, after that two vertical arch-like cuts of lateral walls of nasopharynx are performed. After that mucous-muscular flaps are sewn into obtained wound surfaces.

EFFECT: application of claimed invention allows to increase lumen of nasopharynx openings, restore mechanism of palatopharyngeal ring closing, eliminate atresia of palatopharyngeal ring after velopharyngoplasty, reduce number of inflammatory events of ENT organs, reduce the amount of stagnation in nasopharynx.
