FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves signal measurement and dithering in time, continuous measurement of tuyere shifting aggregate carriage position in time HK (t), determination of tuyere shifting aggregate carriage position at a time moment by HK(t) relation and the time moment. Constant tuyere lowering rate is maintained, voltage drop in active load resistance, caused by current source connected to electric circuit between steel teeming ladle and immersion tuyere is used as base signal. Zero time moment is defined by first voltage drop at the moment of tuyere touching upper border or slag melt. From that moment on, start position Hs and end position He of tuyere shifting aggregate carriage position are defined at a fixed time interval At, and tuyere lowering rate Vt is calculated. Time signal of voltage drop in connected active load resistance is differentiated. Extremum value corresponding to time moment tn of tuyere nozzle touching steel melt mirror which is the bottom border of slag melt is defined with the relation obtained, and slag layer thickness in ladle is calculated by multiplication of tn and Vt.
EFFECT: enhanced processability, reduced power consumption of measurement.
