FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves tapping of molten metal to a ladle, guidance on molten metal surface of highly basic slag, batch vacuumising of molten metal by back-and-forth movements of a vacuum chamber with a submersible branch pipe, along the periphery of which there uniformly located are vertical nozzles for blowdown of molten metal with inert gas. In addition, powder-like reagents are supplied and molten metal is blown down by constant supply of inert gas through a porous tuyere located at the ladle bottom coaxially with the submersible branch pipe, and powder-like reagents or inert and reaction gases are supplied through vertical nozzles in an inert gas jet.
EFFECT: eliminating major disadvantage of batch vacuumising - absence of means for effective desulphurisation; creating general-purpose equipment for out-of-furnace treatment with a full set of technological capabilities; improving the quality of treated metal and reducing capital costs for equipment and increasing its capacity.
