SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas turbine engines. cooling method of gas turbine engines at emergency (abrupt) shutdown of power plants consists in the fact that there measured is rotor (rotors) speed of engine, oil temperature at the outlet of gas turbine engine or at the outlet of any of its supports, and control action on actuator - starter of gas turbine engine start system is formed, during rotor (rotors) rundown of gas turbine engine at its emergency (abrupt) shutdown, automatic control system of power plant generates the command to activate the stator which brings the rotor (rotors) of engine into rotation with rotational speed n, during time τ or when oil temperature at the outlet of gas turbine engine or at the outlet of any of its supports reaches the value excluding oil coking; at that, fuel is not supplied to combustion chamber, rotor speed n of gas turbine engine is controlled depending on the change of oil temperature at the outlet of gas turbine engine or at the outlet of any of its supports.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing cooling efficiency of gas turbine engine, excluding the probability of oil coking and reducing the production cost of power plant.
