FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: cermet contains alloy of aluminium with transition metal of 4 period of periodic table of elements or transition metal and ally of aluminium with transition metal, aluminium oxide and oxide of transition metal. Specific surface of cermet is 0.5-6.0 m2/g, porosity - from 4 to 43 %, and durability - not less, than 4 MPa. Powders of aluminium and transition metal of 4 period of the periodical table of elements are mixed and mechanically activated till composite powder is obtained. Produced powder is placed into a press-mould facilitating access of water steam. Further, powder is treated under hydro-thermal conditions. Produced mechanically durable monolith is dried and annealed.
EFFECT: cermet possesses high specific surface of metal carrier, high heat resistance and resistance to thermal shocks.
