FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed converter substation comprises a device that allows measuring actual temperature of every critical component of substation and a device to determine actual temperature of any coolant used to cool said critical component. Device 12 arranged to use said temperature values, and data on cooling capacity of used coolants and data on thermal behavior of said critical component and possible coolant and their response to possible variation in power is used mathematical model intended for calculating overload capacity of converter substation with the help of substation converters 8, 9 depending upon request about using overload capacity of substation.

EFFECT: increased overload capacity and higher reliability.
