FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of construction and road materials. The method of making articles from silica ceramics involves preparation of an initial mixture through mixed grinding of silica, quartz-glauconitic sand and portland cement, mixing the mixture with coarse sand, moistening with a solution of sodium hydroxide or soda ash to moisture of 5-7%, aeration in a high-speed mixer with a surfactant, moulding, drying and roasting at 800-1100°C, with the following ratio of components in wt %: silica 10-90; quartz-glauconitic sand 2-5; portland cement 2-8; sodium hydroxide or soda ash (in terms of Na2O) 1-7; surfactant (over 100%) 0.1-0.5; coarse quartz sand - the rest.
EFFECT: increased green strength of moulded articles, wider range of roasting temperature and improved quality of the articles.
